The meaning of Life

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil. (Ecc 12:13, 14 NKJV)

This may seem to be a very fundamental reading, but sometimes we need to be reminded of what its all about.

I had someone ask me recently..."What is the meaning of life?" I know enough of God's Word to know what that is but I first wanted to know where he was at with that understanding.

So many people think this life is about being happy. Now, through the lens the world uses the happiness could come from many things. It could come from success in your career as a title like Doctor or Lawyer. Or, enough money that you won't need to worry about paying bills. Or maybe fame of being known to many people. Or it could come from luxury things like a boat or a Mercedes or a mansion. Or maybe it comes from doing what you like to do like being an artist or writing songs. Or, what about finding that very special person to love and live life with that treats you well?

Sadly, even a lot of christians I know think that's what life is about. They would not admit it and some would because they just don't get it, but that is what they talk about more than anything and that is the lifestyle they lead.

Have you ever bought a new car and with in a few months it just kinda wears off to being just a car? See, the truth is we are all designed for a purpose in life. If we truly want to know what the meaning of life is, we need to look to our creator and see what He says about why we are put on this Earth. Here is today's scripture from the amplified version of the bible so we can get a clear picture on what God is telling us through the wisest human that had ever lived, His servant Solomon...

All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil. (Ecclesiastes 12:13, 14 AMP)

The number one question in life shouldn't be about what you do for a living or even if your happily married. When we die, and we are garanteed we all will, we won't care about those things...NOT ONE BIT! We will then be either joyful we lived the meaning of life or we will be forever sorry we missed it! The question we will know we should have asked ourselves is... "Am I living according to God's will?"

See, in the verse above it says God will bring every work into judgment, even the secret things, whether it is good or evil. We all have it in us to worship! It's designed into our very nature. Unfortunatly, we also have a sin nature. Since we are all designed to worship we will either worship God or we will worship anything else like that brand new car or that really great job with that cool title. Or we may even worship our spouse. Whatever it is that leaves no time or even little time to serve and worship God through prayer and spending quality and quantity time with Him is an idol that you worship.

Do you know and understand the meaning of life? Are you LIVING the meaning of life? What kind of relationship do you have with Jesus? Is it an intimate relationship where you spend time with Him daily and put Him first in every area of your life? If you do, that is true worship! That is the meaning of life!!!
